I get so easily distracted these days. I was drafting listings on Etsy in bed on my laptop and then somehow ended up in the next room practicing my eyes tonight. I figured I would share what I did for the heck of it.
With the doll design I’m working on right now, I want a new set of eyes to work with but I can’t seem to break away from my old eye drawing habits. I keep doing the same thing over and over. Haha.
I like to draw and paint all my facial features on my dolls using DecoFabric paint markers, SetASkrib fabric markers and Pigma Micron ink pens. So far I really like these three variations. I feel they hold up best with wash and don’t bleed like other brands I’ve tried. I make sure to heat set the ink/paint multiple times when switching from one brand to the other.
For many of my dolls, I also like to add blush onto their cheeks. When I first started making dolls I actually used makeup for the blush. I alternated between that and airbrushing for a long time but now I use plain crayons and color pencils. It’s quick and simple. I use the crayons and color pencil by adding color onto a sheet of scrape fabric and then taking the scrape fabric and gently rubbing it in a circular motion onto my doll’s cheek. It works great, try it out.
Have a good night. 🙂
