In The Slumps

I guess I’m down in the slumps. I’ve not done too much sewing and am in a daze. Do you ever feel like that? I guess it’s only human nature to feel this way sometimes. I just need to get my stuff together and keep on trucking. =)

It’s going to be awhile before I have anything to post again so I thought I’d share this doll modeling the sweater and dress I made earlier last month. Isn’t she cute? 😉

I also wanted to give a quick special thanks to all the testers and proofreaders who have spent time on the My Hmongy Doll pattern. I really appreciate it and once I get everything in better control, I’ll share all of your dolls here on my blog! I’ve gotten a lot of wonderful feedback, which was exactly what I was looking for. With that said, I am going to redo the entire pattern again to get better photos, add in extra steps and possibly record for video for extra guidance. And ohhhh boyyy, who knows how long that will take me. x_x

That’s it for now, take care!

Real #21 Doll

I was in denial everyone! My last doll I made, I really wasn’t happy with her. >_< I thought she looked great and cute but something about her just wasn’t enough for me. =P So what did I do? I started over again.

With this new one, I manage to make a template of her face so I can repeat it over and over as much as I like. Yay! My problem with drawing the eyes is solved. All my dolls have always had the same “U” smile too but not this time! I decided to experiment and give her some lips. I’ve used colored pencils many times in the past to add blush but it has never occurred to me to color lips in until now. I’m happy with the results. You bet I’ll be doing this on more dolls in the future.

I also gave her new hair. The yarn I previously used was too thick and heavy. This yarn is lighter and balances her body out better. So this is the real doll #21! 😉 Which one do you like better? 🙂

Doll #8 and #9

I hope these photos look okay. It’s been a gloomy day and there just wasn’t enough light coming through the windows for the photos. =/ Anyway, look, Princess dolls! :O

I am sending these two dolls to my nieces in California. I feel kind of bad actually because I’ve been trying to make their dolls for awhile now. I made 3 previous dolls for them in the last hmmm…6 months? But I just wasn’t feeling the love for them so of course I had to start over. I am very happy with these though, otherwise I wouldn’t be sharing them. 😛 I think they look great but I can’t believe I forgot to put my tag on them for the photoshoot! Nuuu!  Enjoy.

Doll #6 and #7

I’m always happy to share my latest sewing projects but I’m super excited to share these two dolls here! I think they are beautiful, just gorgeous! I’ve started many dolls here and there since I’ve moved but these two are my first real finished ones. It’s been hard trying to get in the sewing mood but I really think these two came out great. They were specifically customized by a customer and I can’t wait for her to see them in person. When I look at them, I just can’t help but adore them. Hope you like them too!
