Mystery Fabric

Very strange. I turned my sewing machine on the other night and it worked perfectly again, I don’t get it. I guess it just needed some alone time. ^_^ Lol.

I wish I knew more about fabrics and their names. I purchased 2 yards of fabric from Wal Mart late last year to make my Caydi Doll and I’m out. Wal Mart appears to be out too but I keep going back to check hoping they will have it again. The thing is I don’t know what this fabric I’m looking for is called. I tried searching for the same fabric in a different color but get nothing! Maybe I’m just overlooking it all but so far no luck. A few weeks ago I was very confident it was charmeuse and order a whole whopping 10 yards of it online only to find out it was too thin and overly shiny. x.x Maybe I’ll experiment with it someday for other things though. I also made a trip to JoAnns and could not find an alternate fabric to do the job. It seems as this fabric I am looking for just disappeared. Maybe I am just being too picky but it is making me sad. >.<

Anyway I have been working on a new design for my little Hmongy pillows and I think I’m wrapping up on it soon. Maybe I’ll have it to share in the next few weeks!?

Have a great day!

A Little Bit of Everything

Long time no see! >_< Even though I’ve not been updating my blog I have been working on a few things! 🙂 I finished my second Hmong shirt. I made it MUCH longer this time compare to my first one. I hope you like!

I’m very much in love with this fabric that I purchased at Minh Phat Fabrics in Sacramento. So shiny. *_* I showed this shirt to my Mother in Law and she gave me a extra dabtsov or flap thing in the back of the shirt to use. 😀 I will definitely use it for my next shirt! Although I did start to wonder why Hmong shirts have the dabtsov on the back. My Mother in Law says it’s just for decoration but do any of you know if there’s a meaning for it? Would love to know if there is!

Before I left for California, I had been working on my new scarf collection incorporating some Hmong designs. I made one scarf and was planning to give it to my Grandma, which I did! Unfortunately, I don’t know what I was thinking and didn’t give it to her when we were together in CA so I don’t have any pictures of her wearing it. I gave it to my Dad to drop it by her place since I was leaving for home soon already. I hope she likes it. She said it was a little thin, which it is; however I don’t think she knew it is more for good looks. >:D Lol. ❤ Grandma.

Anyway more to the scarves, I am working on them some more, trying to find what works and what not. I have two made at the moment, I just need to finish the stringy things at the end. I plan on listing these two at my Etsy shop once they are completed. 🙂

Don’t think I forgot about my sweet little Caydi! I am planning her next little collection piece as well for November which I will be focusing on this coming week. I can’t believe there’s only this month and December left to go for my Caydi Doll Collection. I feel like I was just creating her yesterday!

I also finished the next piece to my Love Noms Noms collection and will plan to share it once I get a few others done too.

So many projects and things I want to do! ^_^ Have a sweet day WordPressers!

Caydi Bunny Plush & Mini HC

For some reason our backyard has so many rabbits that they inspired me to create my own bunny design. WordPressers, I present to you Caydi Bunny plush!

I actually worked on these all day yesterday and some today. Took me quite a while…I was up to 3am just making these and I still wasn’t done. Well they are done now and I’m very please to share them! These Caydi Bunnies are approximately 5.5x2x4.5 inches and made from minky fabric with a bit of felt. I hope you like them! Find them at my Etsy shop for purchase.

I also now have mini 8×8 pillows of my Hmong Collection also listed at my Etsy shop.

Caydi Doll Pillow Series – “May Flowers”

Part 5

April showers do bring May flowers…and Caydi’s new pillow!

I used a range of charmeuse satin with a cotton flower print for this project. This pillow took me about 6 hours to make but I had so much fun making it. I had music playing in the background and was just having a sweet crafty sewing session! xP Hope ya’ll enjoy. 🙂
