Newest counts to my dolls. ^_^
Newest counts to my dolls. ^_^
I finally uploaded something onto my YouTube Channel. Check out doll #22. Unlike my older original dolls, this one is different because the facial features and trims are actually printed versus drawn on. To be honest I do like this printed method however when I got done making this doll, I did not feel as accomplished. With my original dolls I had to be so careful when drawing on the faces that it drove me bananas. LOL. So when I got done drawing, I was so proud but this printed one felt like a cheat. >_< Hmm…I’m still very happy with the outcome though and I think she’s gorgeous.
I also have decided to add two “Made to Order” listings at my Etsy shop for my dolls. One is for my original dolls and the other for the printed version. If you’d like to have a doll made especially for you then check it out! 🙂 Good night.
After many revisions and suggestions from my Husband, my new doll template is done. Here is the last test doll I plan to make from my pattern (I hope) before starting the real stuff! 😀 In case you were wondering, my last doll I posted is now also history. >_<
Look at her tiny little shoes! Haha! I kept losing them while working on her. All her clothing is removable and velcroed in the back. Off topic but the word velcro looks so strange!
Below is a photo of all the dolls that I worked on while making this new pattern. WOW!
Enjoy and have a good day!
Sister dolls made for sisters. 🙂
The two previous dolls I shared and sold have names now! Crystal and Addison. The girls who received the dolls looked so happy and that was a great feeling being the creator!
I’ll be honest when I was younger, dolls never were my thing. I had these eerie feelings they would come alive and you know, run around with a knife in their hands. Haha. 😀 One year my oldest sister bought me a porcelain doll that played music, it was beautiful and I named her Juliet but deep down inside it freaked me out. I think I still have it and it might…be in the closet packed away? 😉 I’ll look one of these days to see if it is there. Anyway what I was saying was that I never thought I’d be sewing dolls since they freaked me out so much as a child. There is definitely a rewarding feeling I get when I make my dolls and I have come to appreciate the work and craftsmanship that is behind each handmade doll. Roughly estimating, one doll takes me about 12 hours to make if I do it non stop and skip meals completely! Whew, that’s a lot of time!
I started working on another doll shortly after Crystal and Addison. She is the same as the other two just with a few small difference in her clothing. I will be listing her at Etsy soon. Here she is. I wonder what her future owner will name her? For now she will be Caydi. 😉
I can’t believe it has been two years since I started Caydi Doll! Happy Birthday Caydi Doll! I am doing a small giveaway for this celebration on the Facebook page so if you are interested in winning a set of Hmong inspired pillows, check it out. Will end this February 1st 2014.
As for my plans for 2014, I’m making some changes to My Hmongy Pillows once again. I had a sudden halt with some technical difficulties last year but am now back on track. The changes will be in the size, design and fabric. I’m wrapping up on some of them and will have them available for purchase again at my Etsy shop soon by end of February. Some pillows will also be available for purchase at a local shop in Sacramento, CA by late May. Will have details on that once that happens! This will definitely help save on shipping if you live in Sacramento area or know someone who can get a hold of them. J
As for my little dolls, they are constantly a work in progress. I don’t know why but I’m so meticulous about them. Any little thing can ruin the entire doll for me. I guess that is why I just can’t seem to get them done but it’s alright, just simple obstacles that I can learn from and overcome. 😉
This is really pushing it for me, but I was thinking about making a YouTube channel to show short videos of my pillows. Hmm? Maybe not. I don’t know if I would have any patience for it but I’ll see. I might feel ambitious one day and do it. Haha.
Have a wonderful day! By the way, it is snowing! ^_^
Call me crazy but after looking at Caydi’s doll shirt for awhile I wanted to make one for me. What in the world huh? 😛
It isn’t as puffy and flowy as I’d like it to be but it’s no problem, I like it! I am still not very good at sewing clothing and so I sort of just made a big square and did what I could. ^^ I have been practicing zippers and it’s stressful. x.x I’m sure I am doing it wrong!
I hope everyone is having a good start to 2013, make it worthwhile because I’m sure it will fly right by! Early last year I was so excited about the year itself because it was the year of the Dragon, my year! Everything just felt so right and I wanted to take off in a different direction. I decided to dedicated my time into my pillows and reflecting back I am very proud of what I accomplished. A big thank you to everyone who supported me! For 2013, I plan on adding more designs to my CaydiDoll pillows and also random sewings that I will share, umhmm like that one above. Lol.
One more thing, last year I did a monthly collection piece of Caydi and I’m unsure if I will continue to do it, but will definitely still be making projects of her.
Have a great year!
