So many things I’m trying to do! I want to sew, crochet, illustrate and do other things all at once. It’s crazy! ^o^ That’s probably the reason why I haven’t completed any projects lately. Hmmm…. 🙂 Well it’s getting late and I just wanted to write about some things on my mind.
It’s September and I’ve been brainstorming Caydi’s next project. I already know what I want to do and can’t wait to share it! I will have it ready probably late next week. As for Cubli, I’m hoping to plan out his body towards the end of the month. Yep…I need to give him a body! He can’t be body less forever! ^^
I’ve been looking for a dress form double for the past few months and last week I went on Amazon and found a pretty reasonably priced one with good ratings. I bought it and received it the other day, I’m very happy with it. It’s my first one ever and so I don’t really know what’s great and what’s not but I’m happy with my purchase. I’m very excited about it and will be attempting to make some Hmong inspired clothing again that I’ve had on my mind for a long time now. Wish me luck because I know nothing about sewing clothing!!!
That’s it for now, good night WordPressers!
In the process of revamping my Hmong Pillows by adding more details and colors. A bit tedious and frustrating at the moment but I know they will be even better!
My Caydi pillow for the month of June is at a no go for the moment because I think I might actually try something else. I’ve been rearranging my sewing room and would like to create a small framed illustration of her for my room. Will have it completed before end of June to share.
This month and early July will be a exciting schedule for me. I will be going on a trip to meet up with my Mom and sisters for the first time in a LONG time. I am so looking forward to it, except for the traveling part. >_<
I’ve been working on a simple pillow design for awhile now and finally decided to give it a go tonight. The pillow is based off of a common design found on Hmong clothing, swirls. On Hmong clothing, the swirls are usually cross stitched and then sewn onto fabric. For this project I decided to appliqué swirls with satin and charmeuse. Here’s a sneak peak until I can finalize this pillow better. 🙂 Hope you like the rough draft!
I have finished my pillows regarding this post, however it is so late now that my photos for the finish product look horrible! So many dark shadows and the colors are wayyyyy off. I won’t be able to take photos in natural daylight setting until Monday since I’ll be at work all this weekend. 😦 Therefore…will update Monday! 🙂
Good night WordPressers.
A few years ago my husband and I created a small pixel artwork together for one of his class assignments and I tore the closet down today trying to look for it. Unfortunately I had no luck finding it. The piece was very simple but it showed our teamwork just like pixels working together to form a whole image.
The reason why I’m writing about this artwork is because I want to recreate a pillow similar to it. Wish me luck and I hope to have updates in the next two weeks. 🙂
Pillow number 4 of 6, Hello Kitty!!!! This pillow will be going across the country soon to reach a niece of mine. I hope she loves it!
I was a bit nervous about making Hello Kitty due to the fact that Hello Kitty is so popular and who doesn’t know her?! Any Hello Kitty fan can easily pick her out from the crowd and knowing this, I was afraid of making a mistake with her eyes and nose placement. The smallest misplacement could totally throw her off. Oh yeahhhh the stress was on. >=O However I think the final came out pretty good. I was very pleased with the finish pillow.
I had Google an image of Hello Kitty and used it as my layout. I used a combination of minky, velvet and felt fabric to finish the pillow. I also used my new Gingher scissor and serger that the Hubbie had got me this past week. The scissor is a bit heavy and uncomfortable but very sharp and good for corners. The serger as of now intimidates me because I’ve not learn how to thread it completely yet. O_O It will take some time. 🙂
Later on today I will be working on pillow 5. What do you think of the final pillow? 🙂
