Long time no see! >_< Even though I’ve not been updating my blog I have been working on a few things! 🙂 I finished my second Hmong shirt. I made it MUCH longer this time compare to my first one. I hope you like!
I’m very much in love with this fabric that I purchased at Minh Phat Fabrics in Sacramento. So shiny. *_* I showed this shirt to my Mother in Law and she gave me a extra dabtsov or flap thing in the back of the shirt to use. 😀 I will definitely use it for my next shirt! Although I did start to wonder why Hmong shirts have the dabtsov on the back. My Mother in Law says it’s just for decoration but do any of you know if there’s a meaning for it? Would love to know if there is!
Before I left for California, I had been working on my new scarf collection incorporating some Hmong designs. I made one scarf and was planning to give it to my Grandma, which I did! Unfortunately, I don’t know what I was thinking and didn’t give it to her when we were together in CA so I don’t have any pictures of her wearing it. I gave it to my Dad to drop it by her place since I was leaving for home soon already. I hope she likes it. She said it was a little thin, which it is; however I don’t think she knew it is more for good looks. Lol. ❤ Grandma.
Anyway more to the scarves, I am working on them some more, trying to find what works and what not. I have two made at the moment, I just need to finish the stringy things at the end. I plan on listing these two at my Etsy shop once they are completed. 🙂
Don’t think I forgot about my sweet little Caydi! I am planning her next little collection piece as well for November which I will be focusing on this coming week. I can’t believe there’s only this month and December left to go for my Caydi Doll Collection. I feel like I was just creating her yesterday!
I also finished the next piece to my Love Noms Noms collection and will plan to share it once I get a few others done too.
So many projects and things I want to do! ^_^ Have a sweet day WordPressers!
It’s amazing what can happen when I stop procrastinating. >_< In continuation to my last blog entry I completed my original idea for my scarves! My very first Hmong inspired and very wearable scarf! I had plan on a more Fall time scarf but after making it, I believe it’s more Springy because of the colors. =D Anyway, here it is!
A close up of the design.
I spent the last 6 hours making the scarf and it is now close to 6am. Doesn’t look like it would take that long right? Umm….sadly it did. I didn’t use any of my previous templates I had spent so much time on for the last two months. I ignored them all together and started new because they just weren’t working out. That’s probably why it took me so long but it’s okay because sometimes starting new gives better ideas which made me successful this time! Yay! However while applying the colors I was still limited on what I could see and this made it difficult. What if I messed up my placement or my color wasn’t dry enough?! :O In the end I am very pleased with the outcome and can’t wait until the Hubster gets home so I can show him my new Nerdy Caydi and scarf here. 🙂 I am thinking about giving this scarf to my Grandma when I go visit her. If I have time I may make a new one completely for her.
I love my Grandma, I can’t wait to see how tiny she has gotten! I will surely post a picture of her and I when I get back. She was pretty crafty and creative in her younger days with sewing Hmong clothing. The last time I talked to her I told her I was trying to sew clothes too, she was VERY surprise. LOL.
Hope you like, have a good day everyone!!!
I know it has been awhile since I’ve shared anything but it’s only because I can’t finish anything. ^_^ Creating I can do, finishing is the hard part. =/
I’ve been working on a small little scarf collection for the past two months and last night I decided to work on it again. The scarf actually came out far from my original ideas, but it’s okay. 🙂 I do hope to have my original plans carried out and completed eventually. For now I will share with you this.
I apologize for the coat, it’s pretty wrinkly on the arms. =D I just wore it not too long ago and decide to just put it on Nicci to model the scarf. I appliqué the hearts on and actually filled it a bit with polyester fiberfill to give it a little dimension. Hope you like, very sweet and simple.
My trip is coming up very soon!!! Can’t wait!!!!
Have a sweet day!
